During the 24/25 school year, we've already had two PhD students--Patrick Keenan and Vladimir Lukić--successfully defend their dissertations.
On September 20th, Patrick presented "We are All Geniuses in Utopia: Towards a Philosophy of Solarpunk." In lively conversation with his external reviewers, Tom Whyman (Liverpool) and Rastislav Dinić (Nis), and internal committee committee members and attendees, Patrick articulated his views on the nature of creativity, the possibility of creative artificial intelligence, the value of UBI, and the importance of resisting "capitalist realism" to envision solarpunk futures.
On February 20th, Vladimir presented "Narrative Procedure of Moral and Political Deliberation." His examiners were Jakub Jirsa (Charles University) and Zoltan Miklosi (CEU), and he was also joined by both supervisors from his co-tutelle doctorate: Matej Cibik (UPCE) and Patrick Loobuyck (University of Antwerp). Vladimir enthusiastically defended a novel theoretical framework, narrative constructivism, and showed how it might illuminate the complexities of political and ethical life in pluralistic societies.
We are very proud of each student's performance, and look forward to following their careers in the years to come!
