Submissions are now open for the upcoming undergraduate philosophy conference hosted by the Centre for Ethics in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies:
"Why Should We Care?"

Submissions are due: January 15th 2024, Acceptances by: January 19th 2024
Description: This conference aims to support undergraduate students who are interested in ethical questions. This includes problem-based approaches that investigate:
- Ethics and Political Philosophy
- Problems-based approaches to ethical and political questions
- Our personal or social obligations towards non-human animals, future generations, people with physical or cognitive disabiltiies, migrants, members of religious or ethnic minorities.
- Rights and responsibilities associated with particular social roles (doctors, care workers, educators, parents, etc.)
- Emotions relevant to the ethical and political life
- Critical Investigations of dominant ethical theories or approaches, such as feminist or non-western perspectives
How to Apply? Send an abstract of your talk and a cover sheet to LesleyPaige.Jamieson@upce.cz by January 5th, 2024
- Abstract (200-400 words) describing the ethical or political problem or topic that you want to address and the central claim that you will defend. Please do not include you name or personal details in your abstract.
- Cover Sheet including: the title of your talk (matching the title of your abstract), your name, your university, year of study, email address.
- Submissions must be in English.
To cover travel-related expenses, students may receive compensation. Within the Czech Republic-- 500 CZK; from Ukraine-- up to 3 000CZK.
